While you were sleeping...

I want to update Andre on "newsworthy" events he missed while he was recovering from his surgery on June 18.

Here is my list so far:
  • our 9th year Anniversary (July 3rd)
  • our friends' (Pam & Suzie) move to the Bay Area
  • US Independence Day (July 4th)
  • Canada Day (July 1st)
  • celebrity deaths: Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Billy Mays, Steve McNair
  • Nadal not defending his Wimbledon title due to injury; Federer winning his 6th Wimbledon championship
  • Gov. Sanford admitting to his affair with an Argentine woman
  • Sarah Palin abdicating as governor of Alaska
  • Coup d'etat in Honduras
I'm sure there is some motorcycle racing news I'm missing. If someone can fill me on on that one, I'd appreciate it.

MONTEREY, Calif. (July 4, 2009) - Ricky Parker picked up his second career AMA Pro SuperSport presented by Shoei victory at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Riding the No. 96 Graves Motorsports Yamaha YZF-R6, Parker qualified on the pole position earlier in the day, pulled out into the lead on the race's standing start and was never challenged on his way to the SuperSport victory by 12.723 seconds over Russ Wikle. Parker earned his first SuperSport win in May at Infineon Raceway -- his first start in the series -- and finished second last time out at Road America.
Hope this is useful, Ed, for Andre's edification - some great shots on the AMA site...

Thanks Broom. I know Andre would be happy to hear about Ben Spies since he is a fan of the kid.
