Just the facts.

I got all the facts today. Here they are:

Bone marrow is 100% from the donor.
Peripheral blood is 97% from the donor. (Only 3% "Andre")
Peripheral blood percentage may be higher than 97% because of transfusions.

M-spike, serum proteins are at undetectable levels by electophoresis.
M-spike, serum proteins are at minuscule levels by immunofixation.

CMV is inactive.
GVHD is not flaring.
Tapering off some of the drugs will take 6+ months. (MMF and Tacrolimus).

So I'm really gonna be released into the free world on December 10th. Certainly there are issues, such as drug dependency, potential GVHD flaring, and infection due to severe immunosuppression.

Ultimately, this is as good a result as we could have hoped for. I'm tired, frustrated, and HAPPY.

Wow! I'm impressed. I'm extremely happy to hear this news. Most readers cannot appreciate how those of us with blood cancers must balance our expectations against the realities of trying to work with Mother Nature.

Allogenic transplants are truly science fiction experiments as our friend, George, (Chuck) knew.

Best wishes going forward.

So happy for you, Andre, and for Ed to have you in the remote wilderness with bears and whatever else a place with big trees and mountains might have... you mean Canada and Kenya aren't the same? Keep your survival "list" with you.. but I know you are going to "graduate" with honors! Hope to hear from you once in awhile ... but will consider that fewer reports mean better news! Blessings, Annie

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, there is a ton of other crap to deal with now and nothing is really over because new surprises always seem to come up, but what WONDERFUL news!!!!!!!

We will miss the frequency of your wit, humor, observations, perverse views, and all the other beauty you have brought to our world...

Know we will continue to check your blog frequently, to send our well wishes, even if you don't write as much going forward...

Sharing your experiences has meant more to us than you may ever know.

With affection,
us
